Fit Everything in a Wide Refrigerator

"This wide refrigerator fit in my kitchen very nicely!"

The wide refrigerator has become a very popular new item. The basic premise behind this new width heavy appliance is that in traditional side by side and French door styles, you’re usually left cramming your food in one tiny little side, or in the small bottom freezer. By adding some extra width, these manufacturers thought, all problems would be solved. Is this the case? Well, assuming you performed the proper measurements, you’ll know exactly what you can and cannot fit. If you can fit a larger fridge, then by all means, add that extra space and put an end to the squished food.

You will find a bunch of different sizes, but the most popular sizes (in inches) are usually 32”, 36”, 48”, and 60”. Those are the measurements in width. You’re probably wondering if there are other sizes available, and the answer is yes, but these are the typical sizes you’ll find. Yes, you can get larger than 60” wide, but at that point it would have to be either a commercial or industrial style or custom made for you.

All the same rules of selecting the perfect fridge still apply when you have a specific width in mind. All the styles are usually available, including under counter, which is usually best suited for the outdoors. Counter depth is also a good choice for those that don’t like the idea of their fridge jutting out past everything else in the kitchen. A nice compact, mini, or portable fridge is ideal for the college student, though these usually can’t be terribly wide. Last, if you’re thinking about taking this outside, consider a propane model. They will save you a good amount of electricity in the long run, despite the higher initial cost.

What brands should you buy from? You really can’t miss, as today’s companies have been in the game for so long that there solid reputations only solidify their claims. Manufacturers like Maytag, General Electric, LG, Frigidaire, Whirlpool, Hot Point, Sub Zero, Summit, Kitchenaid, Magic Chef, and Viking all make fabulous fridges even if you want that long 60 incher.
